“Jamison is totally out and writes about his outrageous life, yet refuses to become an outlaw as he moves his brand of sexuality into the American Zeitgeist. His is a unique voice, a young man from a marginalized subculture that wants his work to access the mainstream; inform, entertain and move profound issues into our contemporary literary world.”

ABOUT

At a young age I saw myself in both the red-lipped glamour of women and the brutish leather sexuality of men. The intersection of these identities, along with a sex-positive confidence, have contributed to the way I tell stories… After receiving a BFA in acting from the University of Arizona (2013), I moved to New York City to “find myself.” With the energy leftover from surviving Off-Broadway, I adapted my journaled sexcapades into the web series SORRY YOU’RE SAD, the first project I wrote, directed, and produced. After moving to Los Angeles to produce the short film version, I was invited to become the writer-in-residence at Tom of Finland Foundation, a homoerotic art mecca in LA. The residency challenged to me to create more personal work, including my first book, How to Be a Faggot. Shortly after publishing my memoir, I was accepted into the AFI Conservatory, where I completed an MFA in Screenwriting (2019). As a young queer creative, I have watched others mistell my story. With a master’s degree now under my belt, I am eager to share my experiences.
